Long line around noon, we waited about 15 mins to order and another 15-20 for our appetizer. The camaron tostada was flavorful and a great balance between sweet and spicy.
After about 30-40 mins we got our entrees. The carnitas tonkotsu is a simple dish with a rich broth and sparse toppings. The cochinita tonkotsu has a creamy, cheesy broth with a generous amount of meat and toppings.
Service was nice they just seemed overwhelmed and the cashier had to stop taking orders a lot to serve food.
A neat little mexican - Japanese fussion restaurant. The idea of birria-ramem was not super appealing to me, but after I tried Ramen Del Barrio, I must say I'm a deliver. If you like delicious, spicy mexican food and ramen, this place is an absolute must! The food takes a bit to prepare because it's fresh, but the quality is superb. I would definitely recommend this so the more adventurous food pal
Located inside the Korean Market - Hanna World Market.
Has a Japanese vibe with the Mexican flag for decor. The tables are a cafeteria style setting as the space is shared with a couple other food places.
We had the carnitas tonkatsu Shoyu and the hamachi tostada and we were surprised and really enjoyed both.
The ramen is super creamy and the pork carnitas are tender. Really good flavor from the milky broth.
The hamachi is seared on the outside and the habanero mayo gives it a nice little spicy kick.
We will be back.
Tip: they are closed on Mon and Tues, so avoid those days. And look at their hours of operation closely.
Ramen del Barrio's Mexican-influenced ramen is truly special, and worth multiple visits.
My wife and I ordered the menudo ramen, carnitas ramen, and hamachi tostada. Each was stellar and unique. The hamachi tostada was delicious, with well balanced, complimentary flavors and textures. My wife loved her menudo ramen, and my tastes were fantastic. My carnitas ramen (with extra meat, two egg halves, and salsa macha) was delectable. I could not stop eating it, and want some more as I write this.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Very chill atmosphere, as it's part of a little food court in an Asian grocery. The proximity to the grocery was nice, too, (we went and bought shochu for our dinner) as well as Mochinuts for dessert.
Highly recommended y'all.
Came to Ramen Del Barrio for the first time. I was told it’s Hispanic food mixed with Japanese food. Everything on the menu looks interesting. The first thing we ordered was the chicharrónes, it was absolutely delicious. Will definitely order again. We also ordered the carnitas Ramen. This is good for kids if they don’t like to have a bunch of different things on their meal. We asked for the cilantro and onion on the side. We also got the Himachi tostada witch was flavorful and sweet and good. It was an explosion of flavors. The 2 tacos that we ordered was pork belly and lengua 😍 these were absolutely awesome and highly recommend these. Last thing we got was the cold noodles aguachile mazemen. Honestly these weren’t my favorite but they were ok.
Nut allergy warning - Mole has peanuts. Everything I ordered turned out fine.
A recently opened ramen fusion shop inside Hana World Market, Ramen del Barrio has a surge of popularity after being reviewed by a number of media sources. There is a 40-minute wait for ramen (timed at exactly 37 minutes, after getting through a 20+ minute line) if you go during lunch hours on a weekend. I'll just say... I don't think it's worth it.
Our appetizer, the Karaage, came out after 25 minutes. It was perfectly crispy and the mayo-tomatillo sauce actually went surprisingly well with it. This appetizer is very sharable and a good quantity of chicken for the price. 4.5/5
The Carnitas Shoyo Tonkatsu came out after 37 minutes. In my opinion, the broth is rich but bland. The portions are small (barely 1/3 of a radish, very little meat, not much noodle). I could have eaten two bowls. Adding the spice (salsa macha) helped it a lot. The grilled onion and jalapeno (seed in, very hot!) were the only "fusion" pieces of the dish besides the carnitas. I've had better, cheaper ramen with a <10 minute wait. 2.5/5, upped to 3.5/5 with the salsa macha.
We walked around the supermarket a bit and bought a drink there for cheaper than the restaurant. There is also complimentary water near the restroom.
They also were sold out of their menudo ramen despite coming at 12:00.
Overall, I'd recommend it to try once and if I had an hour to burn just to get food, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
Finally checked out this place to see what the hype was all about and boy they didn’t disappoint. I’m an avid follower of the chef on insta and the ramen and the skewers were fantastic with the Mexican twist. I loved the beef tongue and the pork belly - so incredibly soft yet juicy, wonderfully well done. The ramen was hearty and all ingredients including the carnitas complimented well. I’ll highly recommend everyone to check this place out. They sell out so make sure to check instagram before you head out here.
The food here is really unique and special, and I hope they keep up the quality as long as possible. Love eating at the counter, but tons of seating otherwise in the food court. I first tried it during the ramen garage days, and the menu additions including the tacos have blown me away. Wish I lived closer, but never disappointed to make the 35 min drive when I can. Usually no wait if you can get in around 1130-1145, but expect a line past noon. Hope chef Chris opens up a south outpost one day.
